My 10 Spring Resolutions
Spring started this week and I think I’ve never cared much with the seasons as I do now! Since we moved here, we’ve been through the end of summer (which seemed more like our Brazilian winter); and the darkness and the cold of autumn and winter!
Honestly, I believe that winter wasn’t the end of the world or even that we suffered as much as I imagined we would! In fact, I think people told us so many negative things and gave us the worst expectations about this time of the year, that at the end it wasn’t the worst thing we’ve ever been through! The darkness really exists, sometimes the cold hurts in the spine, but it was nothing that we couldn’t bear!
When people talked about the darkness, at the begging it made me think that we would live with it during the entire day! I have to confess that I was afraid of what it would be like to live like an owl! However, the darkness is about those days that it seems not to rise properly, that is cloudy and gray; in which it is not bright enough to illuminate the house and we have only a few hours of light outside because the days are short.
Is it weird to wake up in the morning and still look like night? Yes, it is very awkward! For most part of winter, the days didn’t dawn until after 9 o’clock and for my body, it was terrible! Even after a good night of sleep, my body would take time to wake up and I ended up always having a horrible morning sloth! I am not really a morning person, because I am always sleepy and even when I get up, it takes time to me to really wake up!
However, walking the dog at noon was the best thing for me! It could be freezing cold or not as much, that it did not matter. I was there walking, taking my body to breathe some fresh air and enjoying the daylight we had!
So Lili, if you survived your first Finnish winter and it wasn’t that bad, why are you cheering so much that spring has arrived? Don’t you love the cold weather?
LOL… yes, I do love it! But if I could have the cold without having to wear 2 pants, 4 blouses, one jacket, scarf, gloves, hat, 2 socks and boots all the time; every day; at the morning, afternoon and night, maybe I would not care that much!
People would always tell us here: there is no bad weather, there is bad clothes. And that’s so true! We didn’t feel cold during these months; we were always well dressed and didn’t stop our lives because it was cold. Not even when it was -20ºC!
In the other hand, walking with kilos of cloth every day is not the nicest thing in the world! When winter started, it was ok, we wouldn’t feel it. But as the months went by, the same amount of cloth started to weight double!
So let’s give a big welcome to spring! Because apart of allowing me to take half of the clothes I was wearing until now, it will bring more life, colors and a new landscape for those white months we had! And to be honest, this is refreshing! It feels as we are starting to re-live; just like the plants, which slowly begin to awaken and sprout!
So for this new cycle, I’ve listed 10 things that I hope to have the opportunity to do during this sunny months and until fall is back!
Do you also have a list of things you would like to do for this new cycle?
I’ll love to hear from you! Let me know at the comments!!
