I have to confess that I’ve been way more adept to ballet flats, sneakers and any shoe with no or low heel. After a few years in the hotel industry, another more in aviation and the past ones working in a kitchen with pastry, I got off the heels and preferred comfort! As we don’t have a car anymore and do everything by on foot, by bike or with public transportation, the low one have gained me more!
In the other hand, I didn’t stopped liking high heels and stopped thinking that in several occasions, they can enhance the look! They are often needed and we have to take care so they don’t harm our health! Yes, because they will only harm us if we exaggerate!
There are some styles that can distroy our lovely feet. These are the ones with very high and ultra-thin heels like the stilleto ones or also know as needles. Well, I guess the name says it all hehe! Another one that seems to be our friend, but many doctors deny it, are the platforms. Yep, because they make us think that we have a firm step, but actually they can make us trip easier and sprain our ankles.
Joks aside, there are several models that are more comfortable and will make you as beautiful as the other ones to use daily. Especially if you are that kind of girl that can’t live without them! The block heels are great too and are more comfortable. They also make your foot more stable while walking!
There are even some insoles that can save you whether you need to wear heels every day or will stay for hours with it. Have you seen the Duchess Kate’s secret? She wears insoles of the Alice Bow brand and they say (yes, because I haven’t test them) that they are awesome and they give lot’s of comfort when walking! If you have tried them, tell us if you did like them!
Another ace in the hole is to have a more comfortable shoe in your bag. This way, you keep the high heel while needed and then change it when your feet feel tired or when you can remove them! I really admire the girls who manage to stay with them all day long. Even more, the ones that go partying at night straight from work. At some point, I’ve done that too. But today, I’m not one of them anymore!
The problems that can appear are not just in the foot. We can get posture problems, such as lordoses. Besides the varicose veins can may appear to our darling legs! Working in aviation has contributed to the shortening of my tendon and I had to do fisio sessions to get better! I could not even touch my feet at the floor. It was very painful, so that’s another problem to the checklist!
However, it is important to remember that flats shoes are not exactly fit either. Having a small heel of at least one or two centimeters would be ideal! At least, that’s whats all the orthopedists I’ve been through this life have said! =)
Let’s use a more comfortable heel daily to enjoy the killer ones in special moments or when we need them!
We will still stay beautiful and reduce the risk of having major problems when age arrives!
