Summer was quite busy here and we made several cycling trips. The last one was to Lahti. A city that is more than 100km from Helsinki and we couldn’t do it in a turn-around. So we got a couchsurfing and slept for free!

Enough talking and let’s get to it! Hope you enjoy!
Do you know what Couchsurfing is?
Staying in one is very simple. You have to login through their website (couchsurfing.com), make a profile and request accommodation anywhere in the world. We were very lucky to have an entire house for ourselves, but sharing accommodation is also fine!
Also Lahti is the 8th largest city in Finland and has a nice region. Despite being an important business hub you can still rent a mökki (cottage) and spend a weekend near the lake. Actually our accommodation was in a city near by called Hollola which had one close by.
The Sibeliustalo is beautiful. I really wished it was opened to see it from the inside. It’s acoustic structure called glulam seems to be fantastic! In addition, there are parks to do trails or camping, museums, the harbor with several restaurants around, a sports center (where the FIS Nordic Ski World Championship was hosted this year) and many other activities!
Anyway, staying in a Couchsurfing is a good way to travel and save money at the same time! Moreover I believe that there are trips that are worth having this type of option!
