Interview – Europe’s Trend Destination of 2017
Wow, we’re already in May and the summer holidays are quite close now! As we have school vacations from end of May to September, I guess it’s a lot of time to enjoy the sunny months!
The weather is way better and in some parts of south Europe, people are enjoying the beach already! I wish we could too, but we’re going to take a while until we can enjoy a beach day here in Santa’s land LOL. We had beautiful sunny days and then last week, it snowed again. Yeees, again. But that’s what we have, just can’t understand this crazy weather!
As I love to travel and get to know new and different places, I was keen to know which was Europe’s trend destination for 2017! For that, I asked the expert and travel agent Alexandre Brito to share some information with us and what has been popping up in his travel agency.
Ale worked as a tour operator for years and since 2015, he founded his own travel agency called Note Viagens in São Paulo, Brazil. This year he marks 20 years as an agent and is a specialist in customized tour packages! So besides those traditional tours, he can create a specific one with all you want. Isn’t that great?
He works with the Brazilian market, but he’s answers apply to many other places. So let’s get into the interview and discover which destination is going to rock!
HIAL – People travel a lot to Europe. With the infinity of places to visit here, what is the trend destination for 2017?
ALE – The trend for this year is Portugal. This destination has taken a bit of advantage, both alone and combined with other countries.
HIAL – European summer is very hectic, because of the hot weather and long days. Is this still the best time to travel? What do you suggest?
ALE – For Brazilians, my customers normally travel from end of March to the beginning of June or the end of August to the beginning of November as it’s the low season. This has a reason, get away from high prices and crowded destinations. This can be a tip to any other person who wants to travel paying less and with more comfort.
HIAL – Do you have any suggestions for a short trip?
ALE – I don’t usually do short trips from Brazil to Europe. From there, I usually suggest a minimum of 10 days which I believe to be an ideal time to thoroughly explore 2 to 3 cities. However, if the customer has a week, I would risk the following suggestions:
4 days in Porto + 3 days in Lisbon
3 days in Madrid + 4 days in Barcelona
4 days in Tuscany + 3 days in Rome
Some remarks: I consider that 3 days in Rome is not enough, as there’s a lot to explore. The city of Porto, specifically, has attracted tourists from all over the world. Mainly, because there are some luxury developments with great restaurants in the area.
HIAL – Even with the trends, is there still destination that tourists love?
ALE – Yes. Italy, France and the UK.
HIAL – How much time in advance do you think it would be best to plan a trip and get the best prices?
ALE – For my customers in Brazil, I usually recommend to start planning a year before to travel during high season and 6 months in low season. However, this dynamic has changed a lot because of the number of events every where around. With the internet, it became easier to know what happens in the world. Before, people needed a lot of publicity to find their favorite themes and today, you get everything in real time. With this, the trade also has the information and uses it to practice floating prices. Something that wouldn’t be done a few years ago.
I loved knowing that Portugal is the trend for the year!
I really want to travel there and I remember reading in the Viajo Logo Existe blog (Brazilian couple that drove around the world) about Portugal and gave several tips. I also saw that there are many beaches and several other beautiful cities besides Lisbon and Porto to visit. I’m itching myself already to make a trip there! I guess I’ll have to include it to my travel wishlist for this year! His tips to program your trip in advance and get lower prices during low season are very worth it too.
Talking to several people here, I realize that many of them are full of plans for summer. Some of them don’t worry with the high prices and the crowd! They really want to enjoy the sun, the beach and escape from the north pole for a while! LOL
Has anyone been to Portugal? I’ll love to know if you liked it, if you have tips… tell me at the comments!
