Power Poses – A Powerful Body
Power poses! Has anyone heard of this before? I watched a TED Talk a while ago that talked about body language and how it can help us fight shyness, feel more confident and better handle different situations.
It is very interesting, because normally we think that it is the mind that rules the body and we never realize that the opposite is also powerful! Social psychology Amy Cuddy is an expert on this and made research on how it influences our lives. It shows how maintaining a different posture can change people’s perspective on us and also make us look different to ourselves.
In the video below, you’ll see the difference in between a power pose and a low pose. What they say about us and how it can affect our daily basis. In addition, Amy Cuddy is the result of it, as when a teenager she suffered an accident that made her have lack of self-confidence.
If you are going through a situation that has made you lost your confidence; you have to face difficult situations or simply lose your shyness, hit play to watch, because it’ll be worth it!
Power poses can change our body language!
Sometimes we intent to keep a self-defense posture without needing it and we may even do it, unconsciously. Our mind is very powerful, but we can’t forget that our body is too! As Amy says: ‘fake it until you become it’. Because we can be whatever we want and we can face any barrier!
