Visagism – Discovering my Face Shape and Talking About Self Acceptance
How do you explain the happiness of been able to discover all about your own face? You’re not getting what I’m saying? Lol so wait, let me explain it better! A few posts back, I wrote about a makeup course I started! Since then, it has been a challenge to learn all of this visagism universe!
I confess that it took me a while to analyse my own face (and between us, I think ours will always be the hardest)! Now I go crazy looking at people’s faces and working them on my head! Not to mention my friends, husband and other’s I did as study case! Hahaha
It’s a constant exercise until you understand all the characteristics, temperaments and formats! Not to say that often, some characteristics can be tricky and confuse us. With that, all the facial study can come up wrong if it’s not well done!
My face was an example of that! I have curved lines on the side of the jaw, but straight from the top of the head to the jaw, giving the impression that we could do a square! And it could be mistaken as square, just as it was by me, friends and other classmates! However, what prevails are the curved lines seen on the side view of the face. With that we came to the conclusion that it’s round shaped!
All faces are different and some are more roundish than others. Yet, not only with the format the study is done. You must see all the characteristics of the face! For example: the shape of the nose, mouth, forehead and so on! These characteristics will help you find your temperament! Funny how the features of the face can tell a lot about how people are! It’s amazing how at the end, the information makes sense!
Remembering that temperament is not the same as one’s personality. Temperament comes from genetic inheritance, from instinct, and forms before the personality! As for the personality is the sum of temperament and character, it is the behavior of each one! It’s crazy to discover these things more deeply. They are part of us and we don’t always know how to define or distinguish them!
Learning how to deal with your own face is very important! Everyone has something they would like to be different! I even wanted to have a lot less cheeks than I have, among other things! To accept that is the first step! Because I don’t really want to go through a bichectomy, for example!
That’s why visagism exists! To help us ‘correct’ the symmetry and make it more harmonic. Not all beautiful and wonderful women we see on the internet have perfect characteristics! But many of them have the technique applied by make-up artists that make their faces ‘perfect’!
I’m not into all of it yet, but I wanted to share this because accepting my round face was a slow process! After all, inside me I knew it was shaped like that! But I was looking for features that would make it different! To be honest, that’s what I wanted! Poor girls (classmates that didn’t even know about all of this) who helped me to unravel it. All those who took a little time of their day to help me analyse it, have my gratitude!
Everyone as a child suffered from some kind of bulling. Some because they were too thin, others because they were fat, tall, short, and in my case it was because of my round face! Several ‘nicknames’ came from it and even though I didn’t like them, they weren’t a big thing either! But look how things are? I had never thought about it again until I came across studying my own face! That’s where you dig up things that should not even matter. However, sometimes they do. Because if we just ignore them without working them, the image problem only tends to grow!
When I sat down the other day and had a chat with myself, I realised that this is something that is part of me and that I can try to find thousand of excuses to deny it. Yet, it will not change! It’s round and will always be!
I made this post to share a little about what I’ve been learning in the course and it turned out to be one to also tell you: we all have body features that we like less. Things that others may have taken advantage of to screw us up in a certain moment, but that does not change who we are! I’m learning to work with what I have! To enhance it, to make it better! What are you going to do to improve what you have?
Moreover among us, it is not because it’s round that is ugly, right? That would be crazy!
Have a look in all these wonderful women with round faces!
All photos are from Pinterest and I’ve done a board with them! =)
